چکیده
Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is a rare auto somal recessive disease characterised by abnormal susceptibility to disease-specific human papillomaviruses (HPVs), possibly due to suppressed cellular innate im munity. EVER1/TMC6 or EVER2/TMC8 gene mutations are often found in EV (1). All patients with EV usually have similar skin lesions from their childhood, involving disseminated flat warts or pityriasis versicolor. Elderly patients with EV have a high risk of developing carcino mas in situ and invasive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) associated with HPV infections, mainly on sunexposed skin. On the other hand, Merkel cell polyomavirus (MC PyV) is detected in most Merkel cell carcinomas (MCC) (2), which arise from Merkel cells, neuroendocrine cells in the skin. We present here a rare occurrence of MCPyV+ MCC in a patient with EV.

Merkel cell polyomavirus and HPV-17 associated with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma arising in a patient with melanoma treated with the BRAF inhibitor dabrafenib.
IMPORTANCE Approximately 10% to 25% of patients treated with BRAF inhibitors develop cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), but the mechanism responsible has not yet been determined. We report what we believe to be the first case in which Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) and human papillomavirus subtype 17 (HPV-17) were associated with cutaneous SCC that developed during treatment with the BR...
متن کاملMerkel cell carcinoma in an immunosuppressed patient*
Merkel cell carcinoma is an uncommon neuroendocrine carcinoma with a rising incidence and an aggressive behavior. It predominantly occurs in older patients, with onset occurring at a mean age of 75-80 years. Recognized risk factors are ultraviolet sunlight exposure, immunosuppression, and, more recently, Merkel cell polyomavirus. We report a case of Merkel cell carcinoma in a young HIV positive...
متن کاملInvolvement of human papillomavirus type 20 in epidermodysplasia verruciformis skin carcinogenesis.
The involvement of human papillomavirus (HPV) in skin carcinogenesis in a patient with epidermodysplasia verruciformis was studied. This patient had disseminated pityriasis versicolor-like lesions, flat warts, and a malignant skin carcinoma. HPV types 3, 17, 20 (HPV-20), and 38 were isolated and molecularly cloned from the benign skin lesions of this patient. Of these HPVs, only HPV-20 was dete...
متن کاملDNA from BK virus and JC virus and from KI, WU, and MC polyomaviruses as well as from simian virus 40 is not detected in non-UV-light-associated primary malignant melanomas of mucous membranes.
The single most important causative factor for malignant melanomas of the skin is UV radiation. However, this is not true for melanomas on body surfaces sheltered from the sun; thus, it is important to seek new causative factors of melanoma genesis. Human papillomaviruses and gammaherpesviruses are associated with human skin cancer; for example, human papillomavirus types 5 and 8 are associated...
متن کاملCK 20‐positive and CK 7‐negative Merkel cell carcinoma of the cheek
Merkel cell carcinomas (MCCs) are uncommon, highly malignant skin tumors that develop in sun-exposed areas of the skin. Most of the MCCs are CK 20-positive and CK 7-negative such as our case. About 80% of Merkel cell carcinoma is associated with Merkel cell polyomavirus.
